Ride2Recovery 2

Ride2Recovery 2

In 2009 we exceeded all our own expectations by raising over £100, 000 and completing a challenge that at the time looked an unlikely feat. Cycling for 6 days for over 600 miles to many of us felt impossible and only through hard training and support for a friend in need ensured we sucessfully reached Morzine in one piece (sort of!).

The challenge

In 2012, we have decided to go one step further and continue our journey where we left off the last time. Ride2Recovery II will see us start from Morzine on 26th August and cycle for 6 days along the Route Des Grandes Alpes finishing in Menton outside of Nice.

The route

The route itself will also see us take on 17 of the highest Cols in the French Alps and indeed many of the famous climbs that feature each year in the famous Tour De France – only we will be doing them all in 6 days! Below we have outlined the route we will be taking. Some stats of the challenge are:

  • High point 2, 764m / 9,068ft
  • Distance 653km / 406miles
  • Gain 15,240m / 50,000ft
  • Descent 16,338m / 53,602ft

Daniel is the father of a little girl called Amelie who was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs in March 2011 when she was 15 months old. After slowly coming to terms with what the future held, Daniel, his wife Patricia and their friends started THE CATS FOUNDATION to raise awareness of the disease and to provide fund raising opportunities so that a potential treatment can be found.
