WBA Supports Golf Day

On the 6th July The CATS Foundation were selected to be the charity who benefited from a golf day which was held by the WBA football teams supporter golf team.

The day was held at Astbury Hall in Shropshire and The CATS Foundation brought a team of six to play in the tournament. The team members were:

The CATS Foundation team

  • Dan Lewi – not the greatest player!
  • Matt Lewi – talks a good game
  • Stephan Walsh – very solid player
  • Mark Rosman – hands down the best of the bunch (handicap of 5!!)
  • Mark Jackson – decent player but dresses like a golf pro
  • Colin Radcliffe – better than he thinks

The highlights of the day

The golf day was a huge success and £1, 600 was raised for the charity during the auction held after the dinner! There were plenty of winners on the day and we are happy to say that nearly all our team collected a prize of some sort.

We all had a great day and would like to thank everyone who attended the event – you helped us raise awareness of Tay-Sachs and The CATS Foundation!

Daniel is the father of a little girl called Amelie who was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs in March 2011 when she was 15 months old. After slowly coming to terms with what the future held, Daniel, his wife Patricia and their friends started THE CATS FOUNDATION to raise awareness of the disease and to provide fund raising opportunities so that a potential treatment can be found.

  1. As Secretary of the WBA Supporters Golf Society & Organizer of the event held at the superb Astbury Hall golf club set in the beautiful Shropshire countryside, I must say it was a great pleasure to have supported such a deserving cause as the Cats Foundation – Cure & Action for Tay-Sachs. We had terrific support from Dan Lewi & his team that helped make this day so successful and enjoyable. We are delighted to have raised £1,600-00 for the charity. Our golf society are very proud of our achievements, now in our 7th year, we have now raised almost £22,000-00 for various deserving charities. We sincerely hope we can work with Dan & his team again in the near future & we wish everyone associated with Cats Foundation continued success in the brilliant work you are doing, it was indeed a great pleasure to have been part of your promotion. Thank you for giving us the opportunity.
