Our 4th Annual Charity Football Game at The Cure & Action for Tay-Sachs (CATS) Foundation was held earlier this month and was once again a very interesting game! This year, the Geordies’ Giants managed to gain revenge on our victory from the match in 2013 and won the game 4 – 3.

Once again the event was a huge success and managed to raise over £1, 165 for our fight against Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff disease! This is a fantastic amount and will make a huge difference to the families we support with vital equipment, respite trips and many other services. In fact, the total raised at this one event will enable the charity to provide a special chair to two children that has been designed to provide effective postural support for disabled children whilst also being very comfortable for them.

Thank you everyone

We would like to say a big thank you to Simon for organising such a brilliant event for the fourth year in a row. His support to the charity through these events has enabled The CATS Foundation to raise a lot of money and to help us raise awareness to a lot of people. We would also like to say thank you to Dave for bringing his team, the Geordie’s Giants along for the game and they are now 3 -1 up in our series of matches.  At The CATS Foundationwe hope to get back to winning ways next year!

Finally, we would like to thank Phil for coming along to referee the match (he handled the game very well) and the supporters who were all treated to an exciting game!

You can see some photos from the event below and more can be found on our Flickr page here.

Daniel is the father of a little girl called Amelie who was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs in March 2011 when she was 15 months old. After slowly coming to terms with what the future held, Daniel, his wife Patricia and their friends started THE CATS FOUNDATION to raise awareness of the disease and to provide fund raising opportunities so that a potential treatment can be found.
